Commodore’s Message - Club Operations
Dear Members;
Things are really starting to shape up around the club. Over the next few weeks the concrete patio portion of the pool will be completed. Once that is completed we are looking to sod the entire west grassy area. Fencing and then landscaping around the pool will follow quickly after that.
The electric is just about finished in the Chart Room, the sheet rock is up and taped, and the ceiling and lighting work is under way. Will Demand will complete the final work on the bar and then Mark Oliphant will complete the wainscot/trim work. New coolers have been ordered. We are getting close to a grand reopening.
The work on repairing the electric service on the dock is also nearing completion. The new light/power stands have been installed. We have applied for a grant to have the pump out station replaced. We explored purchasing a new pump out station while we pursued the grant, but we were told that if we purchased it before the grant was issued we would be disqualified from the grant.
If you have a boat stored on the grassy lot north of the boat house you need to have it removed before Memorial Day weekend. We need that lot to comply with our parking requirements as part of the pool permit.
You may have heard about the recent homicide trial related to the boating death of a Bay Head Yacht Club member. In this accident, a cigarette-type speed boat ran over a Boston Whaler. The driver left the scene, leaving one dead and two others seriously injured. Did you know that leaving the scene in an auto accident that causes serious harm is a 3rd degree felony? On the water in New Jersey, it is a $25 summons, less than many parking tickets. There is a petition that is being circulated where the goal is to create new legislation that will correct this inadequacy. If you think this is something you want to support below is the link to the petition.
